“The Crude Crypt Vol 1” is an insane series of short stories that will leave you wanting more. They are funny, gory, and above all risk taking. Despite what you may think, anthology films are hard to make. You are tasked with putting together a collection of films that play off one another as whole. That is where “The Crude Crypt Vol 1” does the job right. Each story, though unique feels as if it’s in the same world making the movie feel complete at its conclusion.
There are no punches pulled in this anthology and the actors take some great risks. That is something I feel is missing from modern indie-film. There are a lot of sharp subject movies coming out, but most require very little in terms of action from their actors. It’s easy to say a risky line of dialogue, but it’s a whole other monster to be pegged as punishment.
